Yep, this is Covers Mixtape Number 2. It's way less rocky than the previous one; it's quite chilled and downtempo too (plus one song here was also in the last one, done very differently!) DJ Flere Imsaho Covers Mixtape 02
Yep, every one of the songs in this, and the next couple of mixes to be posted here, is a cover version. Most are less well known than the originals, though occasionally it's a cover that's become more well known; think China Girl by David Bowie (originally by Iggy Pop), Valerie by Amy Winehouse (originally The Zutons) or A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall by Roxy Music (originally Bob Dylan). Some are, well, odd.
This first one, by the way, is a lot more rock and metal orientated than the follow ups; they're more poppy, more dancey.
Autumn is here, it's getting colder and wetter. The nights are drawing in too; soon I won't see my garden in daylight on a weekday (I do have to go to work), and that will continue to happen until sometime in the middle of next March. This podcast is similarly gloomy. DJ Flere Imsaho Oh Fuck Another Summer Bites The Dust Podcast
I love soul music, always have, always will. Talking to a good friend at work - we'll call him Jay, cos that's his name - he told me he loves his soul music too (he's a Simply Red fan too, but I'm doing my best not to hold that against him). So this one's for you; enjoy, Jay! DJ Flere Imsaho Soul Mix
So I got off my lazy arse and finished it. I actually like this one a lot, it's got a lot of great, not always obvious, tunes, and it ends on an all-time favourite. DJ Flere Imsaho Yet Another Chill Mix
Well, chill-ish. Maybe 'downtempo' is a better word, though it's not one I like. I did try to avoid the usual suspects as much as I could, but I couldn't help putting a few Air, Lemon Jelly and Bent tracks in, as I do rather like them. There will be another one in a week or two, just as soon as I get off my lazy arse and finish it. DJ Flere Imsaho's Another Chill Mix
I sat down with my favourite punk and new wave songs, and made them into a mix. It turned out to be over 4 hrs long, which is kind of not really the point with punk, what with being longer than most triple disc prog rock concept albums. So I've broken it into 3 mixes of roughly equal length. The methodology I've used has been to vaguely beat and key match the songs, but they're mostly just songs I love in an order that pleases me. Mix two will follow in a day or two. DJ Flere Imsaho Punk & New Wave Mix 01
